Many people are not fond of meditation just because they are not sure what exactly it can bring them. Others think that meditation is for hippies who talk with the nature and keep repeating “ommm” (the sound that often makes them laugh). If you are one of these people, think twice. You should not only think about the way you look or what your friends and family would say.

There is definitely more to meditation than the myths and the stereotypes. Meditation is a way of life that for sure will make you relaxed and more satisfied with your life. Now you will learn that meditation is the key to happier and healthier life, and as a plus you can lose some weight without even realizing how it happened. Here are the benefits of practicing meditation, and who knows you may like it so much that in the end, you can become a meditation expert.

Meditation speeds up your metabolism
There are a lot of things you can try to speed up your metabolism: drinking more water, getting enough sleep, and changing your diet. And in the end, nothing helps, or you should wait so much time that the bikini season was already over when your metabolism starts speeding up. Now, a new research shows that meditation is one of those things that can do this job perfectly. When you start practicing it, the result will be visible in no time. And if you think that this is only an attempt to mislead you, here is what happened in the experiment and the results.

In the experiment took part people, half of whom had no meditation experience and the other half had about four years of meditation practice. The people had to complete an eight-week meditation program. When the program ended, they were tested genetically. You probably would not be surprised with the results that were in favor of the meditation-practicing ones. Not only did their metabolism speed up, but also they had other health benefits, like increased insulin production and increase in mitochondria. In other words, the more people practiced meditation, the healthier they were. So, remember it is never too late for it, especially if you have health problems you want to get rid of.

Meditation makes your heart healthier
Meditation does not only help speed up metabolism (thus you losing some of the extra pounds you have) but it has another health benefit – it makes your heart healthier. In the past, scientists thought that there was truly a link between meditation and lowering the risk of heart attacks and strokes, but they could not prove it, so it was just a theory. Now this vague link has become clearer with the same study that proved meditation speeds up metabolism.

The study shows that people who were actively meditating for years had a forty-eight percent lowering the risk of having a heart attack or strokes, and of course – death. Of course, this does not mean that you should stop your medication, but by practicing meditation you not only won’t hurt it, but you will also help. On the other hand, meditation reduces stress, which is one of the main reasons for any heart problems, and as a matter of fact, any other medical conditions. If you don’t believe it, try it for yourself.

Metabolism can elevate your mood
Who does not want to be happy or forget about their problems for a while? You probably won’t be surprised to know that meditation can do this job for you, (after all, all of those hippies that you saw in the park practicing meditation were happy, weren’t they?). If you had more problems lately, your boy/girlfriend makes you nervous or irritated, your boss does not give you the money you deserve, but the amount of work is growing and growing, and there is nothing you can do about it, just chill and try with meditation.

When you practice it you forget about everything else that surrounds you, you forget about your problems, and you are just in another place where nothing bad can happen to you, you re with yourself there, and this is the only thing you need. As very much like any other kind of physical activity (because meditation is a physical activity as well), with meditation you need practice. The more you do it, the better results you will achieve, and the stronger and more energized you will feel. So, if you do not see the results do not give up in the beginning and continue trying.
