Eat By Season For Healthy Life

Sometimes it is annoying to talk about healthy eating all the time, but as we live in a civilized society, where people try to be healthier and to live longer, so they will reach their retirement and have a few relaxing, no job years. But if we don’t take good care of our bodies, they will surrender in front of the burgers and the cigarettes. I know that you only live once, but what is the point if you can’t take full advantage of that life, what is the point if you don’t have the time to experience all the great moments that are ahead of you? There is no point of course, and you have to know that food is a great reason for a healthy long life.

Let’s say that you try to eat healthy and you do exercises, but have you ever thought of the origin of the food? We eat semi-cooked food, which is a disaster for us. We eat vegetables and fruits and we think that we do it right, but have you ever thought of the timing and is it good for us to eat this certain fruit this season? Let’s say that you want to eat strawberries, but it is winter. The winter is not the time when strawberries grow naturally. So, if you choose to buy this fruit, most probably you will eat something that looks like a strawberry or tastes a  bit like it, but in fact it is pushed up to grow, when it is not the right time for growing. So, remember, if it’s not the season of the fruit, it is not so healthy to eat it. Here I gathered the most common fruits and I will show them to in which season they grow naturally, which will help you to choose when is the most proper time for you to eat them  to get their full nutrient properties.

You can enjoy these fruits all year:
Apples; Apricots (also dried); Avocados; Bananas, Dried Cranberries; Coconut; Lemons; Papayas.
 
Fruits that you can enjoy during the Winter months – December, January and February:
Cactus Pear; Cherimoya; Clementines; Dates; Grapefruit; Kiwi; Oranges; Passion fruit; Pear; Pummelo; Red Banana; Red currants; Tangerines.

My favorite season is the Spring (March, April, May). Mostly because of the blossom trees, but also, because of the delicious foods that grow in this season, like:
Apricots; Bitter melon; Honeydew; Jackfruit; Limes; Lychee; Mango; Oranges; Pineapple; Strawberries.

Oh, the Summer. The warmth of the June, July and August months bring us the possibility of eating one of the greatest fruits in all times:
Apricots; Asian Pear; Black currants; All the berries; Breadfruit; Cantaloupe; Champagne grapes; Cherries; Durian; Figs; Grapefruit; Grapes; Jackfruit; Key limes; Limes; Longan; Loquat; Nectarines; Passion fruit; Peaches; Plums; Sapodillas; Sapote; Sugar apple; Watermelon.

And the romantic Fall brings us fruits like:
Asian pear; Cactus pear; Crab apples; Some of the berries; Feijoa; Grapes; Guava; Jujube; Key limes; Kumquats; Muscadine grapes; Mushrooms; Passion fruit; Pear; Persimmons; Pineapple; Pomegranate; Quince; Sapote; Sharon fruit; Sugar apple.
